Victoire à la Mediterranean International Depth Competition
Dimanche 27 Juillet - Sougia - Crete - Grèce:
Le tournage de la pub à peine terminé, encore bien épuisé par le rythme intense des 4 jours de travail (réveil 5h, mise à l'eau 8h, fin du tournage 20h, retour hotel 22h), et après une journée de voyage et de transit, me voila enfin dans les paysages somptueux de Crete. Le lundi de repos et c'est parti pour 3 jours d'entrainements et 3 jours de compétitions. les autres compétiteurs sont la depuis environ 1 semaine.
Le vainqueur de la compétition sera celui qui cumulera le plus de points (donc de profondeur) sur les 3 jours dans les 3 disciplines autonome de l'apnée profonde: le poids constant, l'immersion libre et le poids constant sans palme.
Premier jour, j'annonce et reussis 92m. Cette journée est marquée par un nouveau record du monde en poids constant feminin par Nathalia Molchanova avec une plongée à -95m (ancien record du monde de Sarah Campbell battu de 5m) !! Impressionant. Belle performance également de Julie Gautier qui bat à nouveau le record de France en poids constant avec une plongée à -68m! Bravo à mon amour!!!
Deuxieme jour, au vue du très fort courant, j'annonce la meme performance (-92m) et la reussis également.
Dernier jour, j'annonce -102m mais avec la fatigue de 6 jours de plongée profonde d'affilé, et les conditions qui ne sont pas au top, je change mon annonce et décide de plonger à -95m. Superbe performance réussi par Christian Maldame avec -88m (très proche de son meilleur niveau) et nouveau record du monde pour Nathalia Molchanova en immersion libre avec -85m.
Je l'emporte au final devant Christian et Alexey.
Chez les filles, Nathalia devance Julie.
Cette compétition, qui reunissait quelques grands noms de l'apnée mondial (Carlos Coste, Alexey Molchanov, William Winram, Herbert Nitsch, etc...) fut un grand succes! Bravo à Stavros et à toute son équipe pour l'organisation et merci également à Kimmo et Iota les 2 juges AIDA.

Right after the advertising shooting, still very tired by the intense 4 days of working (wake up at 5am, beginning of the shooting at 8 am, end at 8pm, back at the hotel 10pm), and after a full day of travel and transit, I finaly arrived in the mervellous Crete! I needed to rest the monday and here we go for 3 days of training and 3 days of competitions. The others athletes are here for 1 week.
The winner of the competition will be the one that collects the most points from the three competition days in the 3 depht discipline without assistance: constant weight, free immersion and constant weight without fins.
First day, I announce and dive at -92m. NEW WORLD RECORD by Nathalia Molchanova in constant weight with a -95m dive (previous WR by Sarah Campbell:-90m)!! Impressive. Very nice performance by Julie Gautier who break the french constant weight record with a dive at -68m! Well done my love!
Second day, because of bad weather, I announce the same depht (-92m) and I do it easily.
Last day, I am ready to go for a -102m dive but after reflexion, I decide to change my announcement: -95m. The conditions are not perfect and after 6 days of deep dives, I am pretty tired. Very nice dive for Christian at 88m (very close to his PB) and new world record for Nathalia Molchanova in free immersion with a -85m dive.
I win the competition, Christian is 2nd and Alexey 3rd
Nathalia win the woman competition, Julie is 2nd and Anna Boetticher is 3rd.
This competition, that has gathered some of the best freedivers in the world (Carlos Coste, Alexey Molchanov, William Winram, Herbert Nitsch, etc...) was a great event!. Thanks to Stavros and his team for the organisation and thanks also to Kimo and Iota, the 2 AIDA judges.
